I want to have a list of products, specific to a user, based on records from a DB. In a similar way coupons are provided based on location. Is there an extension for that?  I'm using reports now to return user results.

No, I don't remember ever seeing a module like that. I think your best bet is to use some kind of data module like you are doing. I sell a module named 'SQLView Pro' that is similar to the DNN reports module. There is a free trial at the link below if you want to take a look.
