Two questions about htm pages.

I have an old genealogy section on my website  that was done in HTM pages long ago (using FrontPage2003).

I want to add a link to them in my DNN menu, but I do not see how to link to an HTM page.  So I put a link to a new ASPX page and made it a redirect to the top level HTM page.

  1.  Is there a better way to put an HTM page in the DNN menu?
  2. The site map module seems to only show the DNN aspx pages.  The HTM pages do not show up at all.   How can I put the htm pages insite map.  I want to include the htm in anything I send to Yahoo or Google.

However, I have NO IDEA if Google or Yahoo use those site map submissions.  Mabe that is a third question????

Thanks
Joel in Houston

If you have a look at google webmaster tools, you can register your site with them and see exactly what use google make of your sitemap submission(s).

One text hyperlink to the top level htm page is all that is needed for the search engines to find the content.

For is it possible/how to get a menu link? It would help if you said which version of DNN you are running and which menu provider you are using.

Joel,

From Admin | Page Management, right click on the portal name and choose add page. Enter the text you want to see in the menu and click create page.

Provide a title, tick the Include in menu checkbox. Set Permissions according to whether you want All Users or only Registered Users to see the menu link and then go to the very bottom of the page.

Expand the Link Section and tick URL (A link to an External Resource), enter the url for the htm page on your site into the textbox and tick the Permanent redirect box.

regards,
Bill
