How are you "validating the e-mail address"?
You could simply use the Form and List module where, on submit, it redirects to a hidden page in your site with the download links.

Hi Sebastian

I used the DotNetNuke Explained Basic Module Development Video and .pdf  by Chris Hammond as a guide from the DotNetNuke Video Library.

I have a DNN 6.2.2 install already up and running. It was installed using the Microsoft Platform Installer 3.0 and Webmatrix 2.0. I used a SQL server 2008 database (Not Sql Server 2008 Express). with no errors.

The installation is located at:  Documents/My Web Sites\DotNetNuke Community Edition/Desktop Modules directory.

I installed the MSBuild.Community.Tasks.v1.4.0.42 msi. Then I tried to install the module template and I got and error from MSBuild that it couldn't find the c:\web\dnndev directory. This is the directory Chris Hammond used in the video.

Do I need to install another version DNN @ c:\web\dnndev\desktop modules or could I edit the template to point to the installation that I already have up and running. If I do need to change it, what file should I edit.

VS 2010 wrote the files to the Documents/My Web Sites\DotNetNuke Community Edition directory. But when I tried to open the project VS 2010 ran a conversion wizard that failed.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi Mike

That was my first choice

I tried to use the form and list module version 06.00.04, but it doesn't scroll properly and it hard to get to the bottom of pages to create the form.

If I find a workaround like using the tab key how could I get it to write to my sql server database?

hi box86rowth,

I tried using the DnnExplained Basic Module development video to help me install the VS IDE properly but I ran into problems. I have posted a reply earlier that detailed my problems.

Any help will be much appreciated.

I have not had much success myself with the templates, which is why I usually start from scratch as my walkthrough explains.

I hope you get it going!
