Hello,

(DNN 6.1.3)

I have a scheduled task that I would like to kick off around the same time every day. I've tried modifying the NextRunDate value directly in the DB and then Refreshed the Cache and Restarted the app (both through Host Settings) but yet when you look at the schedule, it still shows the task scheduled to run at the prior time calculated from the last time it ran. Is there some other place in the db that I can override this?

Thanks in advance,

Chad

you should use a windows service for this task, DNN tasks are not reliable, because they would not start, if the app is not running (but recycled).

Thanks Sebastian. Yes I know it is not 100% reliable. I have a keep alive ping hitting the site every 15 min so it stay's alive. I've been using another scheduled job that I created for more than 6 months now and it has always run. So that is good enough for me at the moment...besides, I am on a shared hosting plan and can't create a windows service.

So do you know how to change the NextStartDate explicitly? I've seen that if I have the interval set to 1 day, and I just use the Run Now option, it will set it to 24 hours later....so I could just do that at the time I want it to run, but should I need to change that for any reason, I'd rather not have to wait to the next day and have to remember to manually run it at a certain time.

Chad, AFAIK you cannot specify time of day for next run precisely, sorry.

on a 2nd thought: you may have a scheduler job running every few minutes, which checks internally, whether it is time to execute a task.
