Hello,

I have a DotNetNuke 6.2.3 site that has been used for well over 3 years now. While the site runs without any issues the database log file is huge (Over 40GB) when the database itself is just about 1.5GB.

I have the recovery model set to simple and I perform the following to try to reduce the database size:

  1. Perform a full backup of the database.
  2. Use the SQL Server Management Studio (version 2008 R2 SP1) to Shrink the Database.
  3. Use the same tool to shrink the files.

Yet the database doesn't shrink one bit.

What can I do to reduce the size of the log file?

Thank you for your time.

you might need to stop IIS and restart sql server service to stop access to your database, shrink files and restart IIS, otherwise IIS might continue to access records located at the end of the file, unable to shrink it.
