When you did the WebHost4Life installation did it install 4.0 or 4.3.x? I have been asking them to upgrade but not sure if they have done so...

If 4.0 then you should unzip the 4.3.x upgrade into your WebHost4Life DNN installation folder and upgrade. That will probably also add the forums for you and you need to upgrade anyway. Easiest way to do this is using an FTP client and unzipping locally and then transferring it to WebHost4Life. They (WH4L) can unzip it for you but it takes them a long time to do it and they always get confused by your request.

If you do decide to get WebHost4Life to unzip it (the upgrade) on the host machine for you then they will tell you that you can do it yourself. You then have to tell them that you can't (because you can't - no option in control pannel) and ask them again to do it. Sometimes they need to be told/asked several times before they do it and sometimes they tell you that they are going to charge you to unzip the file.

Hope this helps.

ver 4.3.1 (to 8 July 2006) ver 4.3.2 (to 20 July 2006) ver 4.3.3 (to 5 Aug 2006) ver 4.3.4 (to 20 Sep 2006) ver 4.3.5 (to 25 Dec 2006) ver 4.4.0 (to date)

Hello John

Thanks for that, except, I am afraid I am uber-dense. Download pages have always confused me, I followed the link and still couldn't see which one I wanted.

I see 3 downloads. I am not sure what the first one says, it has the number 1.0 in it. The other two refer to 3.x
So I think "oh 3.x sounds old/wrong" and I am looking for the words "latest version" as per your "just use the latest version" and I can't see that.

Can you be absolutely precise for the mentally challenged please :)

P.S. I am bright really! Honest. It's just if I can't see EXACTLY what looks precisely what I was told I was looking for then I get nervous and unsure.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Hello

It is v4.3.4

Cheers for the info on what to expect WebHost4Life will say and how they are wrong and what to say and why.

I did pester their LiveHelp a lot this week. And I did suffer through slow technical responses for the first 3 days while I ascertained I'd (a) no idea what I wanted (b) no idea what I was doing (c) I had made a mistake in my original Plug In choice.

I got the hosting on Sunday (it is now Wed night) and at first I installed Rainbow (god knows why, I was sucked in by the pretty picture). I had signed up with them intending to get DotNetNuke but I hadn't seen it and didn't know why and the Rainbow blurb seemed to do the stuff I thought I wanted. But that was a load of pants. So I deleted it and installed DotNetNuke, which was exactly what I was expecting/wanting to get.

Thanks again for your timely response.

Hello

Thanks for that. I've downloaded it so will give it a go at the install over the weekend.

I am wondering if this forum is running DotNetNuke (I'd expect it is) as it is a tad confusing trying to find the thread to reply to - and the way the postings are appearing post-moderation make it hard to follow, so I guess when I configure the behaviour I will have to look at how it works as I expect my target audience to be quite dense by the standards of most society :)

Thanks again for the direct linkage!

E
