Based on an admittedly small amount of reading, I've concluded that IHYDRATABLE is preferable basically because it's FASTER than the old, reflection-based datareader search. My question is: When is the DICTIONARY (the keyed collection of generic items) built ??? Is it built at startup ??? Is it built when the program is loaded for use ??? Is it built in an on-going manner ???Obviously, if the searched-for item is not in the DICTIONARY, then it is useless to search for it there. So how does it get put into the DICTIONARY ???Thank you for your help.Jeff

you need to create a method to fill the properties and it will be called by the framework automatically. There are a number of samples in DNN 5 and DNN 6 module tutorials and templates (DNN 7 will make this obsolete by using DAL2 and PetaPoco).

AFAIK this happens on first load of the module instance, when a page is displayed that has the module placed on it.
