I am a PHP developer and my .net knowledge is quite minimal, so if some of my questions are quite trivial it’s because of my limited .net experience.

We are considering DNN for our new project, which integrates existing pages/functionalities with newer ones.

My questions are

  • Can we use multiple SQL servers? We need to access different SQL servers depending on where the user is.
For example: user registration must access one SQL server, while complaints go into another server.

  • We already have an existing .net app/website which extracts data from another .net web service, can we incorporate that into DotNetNuke?
I’d like to grab the existing functionalities and integrate them in the DNN framework.

  • Is it possible to hide/deactivate DNN login features from public and provide them from another link?
We have our own “members” login section which we need to integrate
    and
for security purposes we’d like the admin login to be accessible in another way.
Thanks in advance for your help

Welcome kamy99!

1) Yes. I do the same, as I have shared data in seperate SQL Server databases. Just build your modules with different connection strings that you add to the web.config.

2) Yes. Disable or delete the log in page, create a new one from scatch and add the login module to that page. I've done this too.

Hi Mark:

Thanks for the reply, I should have asked if this was possible in the Community version of DNN?

none of the replied suggestions require to use Professional or Enterprise version.
