ok, so we had a problem with one of the modules and the company that made the module told us to go into the database and delete something out of the table. Ok, I had to first find where the database was in order to attach it in SSMS. that all fine, deleted what we had to delete. Restart IIS and low and behold, DNN wants to re-install. Why? oh WHY does it want to install. So how do I get all my data back without re-installing. Edit web.config to access the now SSMS database? the file never moved so access it with a database manager should NEVER mess with the connection to DNN portal.

Please somebody help me so we can get our site back online.

The Filebased database on MS SQL only allowes one Connection.  The Connection now is with the SQL Server.  You have to disattach the database from the SQL Server to get Access back to DNN.
