I think that those buttons are displayed if the authentication method is enabled in the extensions menu.

Sorry, you're looking to get rid of the default DNN authentication correct? I'll have to test but I don't think there's an easy way of doing it other than making changes directly in the SQL database (I think the table was AuthenticationTypes or something similar). There was talk a few versions ago about making it possible but I don't know if they were ever implemented.

The problem with turning it off is that if ever anything goes sideways you're locked out with no way to login.

I have the default DNN login turned off on most of my portals, and the button is gone now. But, like you said, it makes it difficult to log back in if something goes haywire.

So, I keep a couple of portals available where I can log in using the standard login, "just in case".

I am also interested in being able to do this. Currently the logins all go to a custom siteLogin page. Is it possible to simply create an HTML module with tokens that will put only the appropriate authentication extension in that module?

I was lookinbg to do a similar sort of thing - just allow users to register via windows live only (then once done, have to have a valid profile).

So I would just create a registration page, select it via admin>site settings>advanced settings, but then how could I just get the 'register with windows live' button to show only and exclude the default dnn fields ?
