About app pool 2.0 I think your application is still using .net 3.5 [.net 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5  are run under .net framewor 2.0 app pool]

So my thinking is that you application is not running in .net 4.0. you can check that in site settings.

To upgrade application from 3.5 to 4.0 what i do mostly is open the soltuion in VS2010 or VS2012 and change the framework from 3.5 to 4.0 from the DNN portal project settings

In the host settings I can see that .Net Framework is 4.0.

Also, the portal's app pool is set to use 4.0. Yet, would it be possible that it still runs 2.0 or 3.5?

About you practice in VS, I'll try it maybe at next upgrade, thanks!

can you let me see your's IIS setting for the application?if hos setting is showing it 4.0 then it should be working 4.0 pool i think.
