Hi, I have a problem with my DNN website in a hosted environment. Apparently DNN opens more than one thread and as the hosting provider only allows one. The whole application does crash repeatedly. It may be also the case that there is a memory leak?

Is there a way to find out when and through which component an additional thread is opened? How would I prevent this?

The website in question is really just a plain DNN installation. It is used for a school project to create websites and business plans with children.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Oliver

I am aware that DNN 6.1 requires more memory than 6.0 and 5.6, but never heard about additional threads. did you make sure to have a single worker process configured in your App Pool?

Hi Sebastian, thank you for your answer.

Well... this is exactly the problem. The provider allows only for one thread BUT DNN apparently opens up more than one which makes the website crash.... The provider may give me access to IIS so that I can hopefully restart the worker process....
How can I assure that DNN uses only one thread from within DNN?

I do not really know enough about this aspect: Should DNN use only one thread by default? I have tried to upgrade the site (6.2.5) and was running into  problems - the upgrade always stops when upgrading the image gallery. So, I've checked the gallery  version: I am using the latest version (I think it is 4.4.0.3 - I am off site and my notes are in the office). I am not sure why the DNN Upgrade does a image gallery upgrade as I use the latest version already...

At the moment the site is down again but I am not sure how to proceed.... May be you have some thoughts?

Many Thanks,
Oliver
