Our client runs a number of conferences every year and we create a page for each conference.  As the general layout and much of the content is the same, we have created a 'conference template' page which has the basic modules and content required.  We have a CATALooK store CAT_ItemPaneNF module, 2 Bonosoft Links modules and two Text/HTML modules.  To create a new conference page we use the Copy Page | Copy modules from and Copy Content?  This has worked fine for a while, then suddenly we noticed that when we changed the content in a conference page, it changed it in the other pages derived from the same template.  We then stopped copying content and this has worked for a while.  Now when we use copy Modules from without copying content, we now find that the pages are still linked.  I.e one of the modules is a Bonosoft link entitled 'Sponsors'.  We add a sponsors logo for a new conference and all the other conference pages now display this logo.  Not what we require.

What can we do do change this behaviour to what we need.  That we can create a new page copying modules and content from a template then change the content without affecting any other module.  At present, we have to delete the offending module, re-install and re-configure and then re-enter all the text, links, etc.  A rather laborious process.

Roger Graham

there is a new feature in DNN 3.3.x / 4.3.x (AFIK there is no compatible CataLook version yet) to use page templates and copy modules instead of referencing them - but this will only work with module supporting the iPortable DNN interface (you can test this, by checking its action menu, if export and import item exist).

So, does this imply that we are creating a page by reference and that all changes are migrated back to all pages thus created.  This seems a not very useful feature.  If I create a page by copying (not sharing!!) modules and content from another page, I should be able to change the content on the new page without altering the source page.  But this appears to be not the case.  You end up with two pages that basically share modules and content.

Roger
