I needed a simplistic way to allow the users of our intranet to report broken links.  So, I wrote this small jQuery script to do just that.  Users can click the "Report Broken Link" button, then click on the link that's broken and the script will generate an email with all the details.  It was written specifically for DotNetNuke and will report the page the link is on, the Module Title the link is within, the title of the link, as well as other pertinent info.

I'm offering it freely to anyone who is interested... To check out the script, go to my jsFiddle.

NOTE - DotNetNuke includes both jQuery and jQueryUI automatically, but not the jQueryUI css file.  I recommend customizing your own from jQueryUI.com then saving it in your skin folder, and loading it from within your skin.

Happy broken link reporting...

We also have specific people in charge of specific pages (remember this is an intranet). So, we wanted to be able to notify the appropriate persons of the broken link. Therefore, the script now searches the page's keywords for "PageMgr: someone@somedomain.com". When found, it updates the emailAddress in the linkReporter with the value provided. The page's keywords can easily be modified in DotNetNuke via the page settings.

I also added a function to email the Page Manager: emailManager. You can see all of this in action on the jsFiddle linked above.

Enjoy.
