Hi all, I'm preping to upgrade to V7 from V5 and want to ensure all is working before the upgrade.  I backed up and restored my DB (SQL Server 2005) to a new SQL Server 2012 instance and pointed the existing DNN SQL connection string to the new database.  When I open the DNN default site (http://localhost/DNNDev) I am taken to the install procedure (http://localhost/DNNDev/Install/InstallWizard.aspx).

So I fill in all the connect info (obj qualifier = "dbo.") but the install fails with the following error.  It appears the install prepends a "_" to the procedure names.  There is an object named 'DNNDev.dbo.UpdateDatabaseVersionAndName' (no "_") in the DB.

Installing Database - Version 05.00.00...FAILURE 400 - The stored procedure 'DNNDev.dbo._UpdateDatabaseVersionAndName' doesn't exist.

My questions are why is it running the install process again and why is it prepending the "_".

Any help would be appreciated..ed

Update.  I found the IIS site was pointing to old code and that had a web.config with a connection string to a non existent DB.  That explains the reinstall.

Tip: As it turns out if the DB is not accessible DNN runs the install process.  So if you see that when not expecting to see it there's a good chance the db is down, sql connect  string is wrong, etc.; the data base isn't accessible.

if the install wizard is triggered, it might alter machinekey value in your web.config file. Setting "UseInstallWizard" in web.config file will prevent this behavior.
