Hello, all...

I'm in the 21st lesson of the TASKMANAGER videos, where the discussion is primarily about the VIEW.ASCX and VIEW.ASCX.CS files.

When I tried to build after having incorporated these changes, I got the following error:

The name 'ClientAPI' does not exist in the current context.

I've looked through the logs on this site concerning this error, and see that it has apparently been a long-running problem.

Can someone give me the "quick and dirty" as to how to solve it ???

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.

Jeff

Hmmmm....   Maybe I got a little ahead of myself.

Since I found out you could "cut and paste" the code from www.dnntaskmanager.codeplex.com, that's what I've been doing (particularly since Chris has been moving so fast, and because at this point it's the concepts that are important, not particularly the syntax).

So I commented out two of the "new" subroutines in VIEW.ASCX.CS (especially the one that contained the ClientAPI reference), and the program compiled.

So never mind...  for now.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

Jeff

Well, it's back.  Turns out that I commented out too many lines.

I  need both the "rptTaskListOnItemDataBound" and the "rptTaskListOnItemCommand" variables in VIEW.ASCX.CS, so when I uncomment the appropriate routines I once again have the "ClientAPI" error:

The name 'ClientAPI' does not exist in the current context.

One of the problems being that the VIEW.ASCX.CS is "scraped" from www.dnntaskmanager.codeplex.com ... so that means that the Codeplex code has the same problem.

Can someone help me with this ???

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

Jeff

From searching the Internet I have determined that ClientAPI is supposed to be in the "DotNetNuke.UI.Utilities" namespace, but, at least on the version of DNN I've downloaded (6.2.4, I think), it's not there !!!

Can someone help me out here ???  I've taken this about as far as I can take it.

THANKS.

Jeff

So I get to lesson # 22 in the Task Manager series, "Creating the Edit Button", and I find that the code which I've scraped from dnntaskmanager.codeplex.com  is not the same as the code that Chris is using in his video.   It differs substantially.

Chris, what the hey is going on here???   Do I need to go back to pausing the video and typing the code on the screen into the code module (again) ???

If that's what I have to do, I'll do it; just let me know.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

Jeff
