I get a similar error (see below).  I have Gallery 3.0.1 already installed, it works just fine.  I assume that I can simply install the new 3.1.01 over the top of it (I have lots of images currently in place and don't want to rebuild my Albums and reupload images).

I hate to come out and say this but I would hold off on upgrading this module.  I am not exactly sure what you are upgrading via your version numbers though.  I can say that a patch release for the gallery is soon and that it will be switching to a dataprovider model in the following release.

After investigation, this error is the businesscontroller class in the dnn file.  It was discussed a couple months ago.  Please remove the class and try installing again, it will install.

There Is No Dnn In Root Folder , But I search For Dnn Files And There Are About 25 dnn Files , But i Dont Know Wich File To Edit And Replcae Your Code , Also There Is No dn File Related TO Gallery.

Extract gallery.dnn from .zip file, modifies as page 2 of this thread then zip back and install again.
