I'm want to create categories in the DNN Blog v5.00.00 module/extension.

While in Control Panel for the blog extention > basic settings > Category Vocabulary Root: Drop Down It states: A portal level vocabulary root must be specified in order for categories to be available to bloggers for selection.

How do I go about setting this up? Also, so you know, I am just using this as a "All Bloggers" blog.

Please help me..

Thanks

You will need to go into the admin and then Taxonomy.  In the taxonomy you will need to create a "site" level vocabulary.  Once you've done that the list will show in your Blog control panel .  Select it in the "Category Vocabulary Root" and you should be set to go (you may need to recycle or clear your site cache)

Thanks Jason!

For anyone else following with the question "How do I create Categories in the DNN Blog Module version 5" these were the steps that I followed:

1. Go to Admin > Taxonomy
2. Click on the button "Create New Vocabulary" to create a new Taxonomy vocabulary in the list
3. There, simply enter a title and brief description (the description is for you/admin only, not visible to the blog user). Make this Portal / Site level. Click to Save.
4. Now the new item is in the List of Taxonomy Vocabulary for the site, you can click on the icon to EDIT
5. on the Edit popup screen, you are able to click on the link now for "Add Term". Enter a Name (title of your category) and description. Click the "Create New Term" button to Save.
repeat this step as many times as needed to add in all your categories.
6. Once done, for good measure, reset the Cache and Restart the App Pool to make sure that everything is present for the next step.
7. Go back to your page with the Blog module, and on the main Blog Article module (the viewer module that shows the blog list and article detail, etc) and choose the "Control Panel" menu item
8. In that location, click on the Basic Tab and there's a dropdown for Category Vocabulary Root. The dropdown should now have available the Taxonomy that you created. Select that and save.

Now, all of that done, I felt good that I'd see the categories show up in the Add Article screen or when editing a Blog article... but, still nothing. That section in the editor was still blank, it did not show checkboxes or a multiselect for the list of Categories.

So I think all the steps are correct and complete...

Does anyone else see a step that I overlooked? or know anything about the module? Meanwhile, I'll check on the source location
