I would like to be able to create products that are linked to PDF files.

For example:

I have a category in which I create a product.
When this product is clicked, I would like a PDF file to open.

Is this possible?

Thanks!

Hi,

You can't directly dowload a file when clicking on a product, but you can insert a link to your file in the product description. I suppose you want to use the Store module as a simple catalog and providing the pdf file for free without checkout and payment. If you want to sell your file, please provide me more details.

Hi Gilles,

Thanks for the tip!
You're right, I want to use the Store as a catalog without a cart or checkout and payment.
So when I put a link in the description, can I then turn of the detailed page?

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes you can disable the detail page, but you will have to create a new template for your product list. Please download and read the Templating Guide available at Codeplex for details. As a sample, your template could be:

<p class="Normal">[EDIT][MODELNAME]</p>
[DESCRIPTION]

This way only the product name (without link to the detail page) and the description will be displayed. The description is not enclosed in an HTML tag because the text is rendered inside a <div>...</div>.

Okay, getting there!

But now the product image still has a link to the details page.
Is there a way I can remove the link from the image?

Thanks so much for your help!
