I also have this problem. The change to ribbon does work. First time I've had this problem on an app installation on a host. Don't have the issue on my local IIS. A fix, update or something would be great.

I know this seems strange, but try clearing your cookies, cache, etc. I had this same issue and opened the site in a browser that I rarely used and the problem didn't exist. I then cleared all the cookies and cache on Chrome (where I was having the problem) and the problem went away.

It must be a change in the request method that's in the new controlbar that isn't in the other, and something is messing it up.

Very confusing... but my problem is gone.

I just found another (longer) thread pertaining to this very problem. Bruce Chapman suggested clearing cookies as well. It seems there's a similar but different problem for some and a hotfix from Microsoft was suggested which solved many issues.

The solution from this thread worked for me version 7.00.06

Changing the web.config module section

This problem is driving me crazy.

Fresh install DNN 7.0.6 (On GoDaddy's hosting)
After installation (default settings)
I go to add a module, it works.
I add a page, give all users VIEW permission.
Try to add a module, it shows the authentication box.

From now on, the authentication box is shown when I try to add modules (and other actions too i believe)

Any idea on a fix?
