I upgraded to DNN 7.0.2 without issue. I then broke my own rule of 'If it is not broke...' and upgraded my active forums (AF) module from 4.3.7 to 5.0.2 to take advantage of the social networking additions of DNN7. Well 2 major issues cropped up.

The first is before the AF upgrade I was using a 3rd party private message system. After the upgrade the new AF only supports the core DNN message system. But the envelope link to end a user in the forums a PM does not show up under their (missing) avatar. As seen here;

http://www.wodnews.net/Community/Forums/tabid/73/aft/914/Default.aspx

Next is the profile avatars no longer work. On AF 4 users had their own basic profile and avatar system built-in. In AF 5 that was stripped out and uses the DNN core profile. But no matter what I do or tweak profiles will not display anywhere except in the users profile page. All other modules like AF, 3rd party blogs, DNN journal etc will show the blank placeholder avatar pic rather then the one uploaded to the users profile. You can see a example of the issue here;

http://www.wodnews.net/Community/Forums/RecentPosts.aspx

Originally I was using a 3rd party PM system with AF 4, and when I upgraded was still set for such. I am thinking even though no 3rd party modules are supported anymore in AF5 it is still pointing to such and breaking? Not sure.

I did have active social installed a while back and uninstalled it, perhaps that caused the issues with using the core DNN functions, and when it uninstalled it didn't 'release' the internal pointers to resources?

If anyone has any ideas it would really help!

One thing I would check for Avatars, is what URL is being used when one works, and what URL is being used when one doesn't work.

This is one that doesn't work

http://www.wodnews.net/profilepic.ash...

But I haven't found any that I can look at that work (perhaps without creating an account and logging in to your site)

See if you can find a difference in the URLs between the two, and then we can go from there.

I do know there are some AF issues with 7.0, but I don't know the details of all the issues.

AFAIK I am the only one using the DNN profile currently so my profile is a safe bet too look at. That said when viewing my uploaded avatar in my profile page this is where it is going;

http://www.wodnews.net/Portals/0/User...

It displays fine there. Is that what we need?

Does that URL work for you? Do you have authentication enabled on the Portals folder somewhere? I get a 404

ahh works when I am logged in, not so much when I am not. Is that part of the issue?
