I want to give a user the ability to edit a page, but not to create pages.

I noticed that when I give a user the permission to edit a page, that they also see a "Pages" menu appear that allows them to create new pages underneath the current page. I do not want them to be able to do this. I only want them to be able to edit the page I give them permission to and that is it.

Any ideas?

Hi

Yes it can possible, if we set only the view permission on the page to that user role and set the edit permission to that user roles on each modules on the page.

Thanks,

Ben,

Sunil's answer is quite correct, but having Edit permissions on the page level also means that the user can modify the module settings of each module on the page. If you want this, then it's not the solution.

On the other hand, there is no restriction to creating new pages under pages that a user has Edit permissions, AFAIK. Maybe you can find a more granular permission provider on Codeplex or the DNN store.

Best wishes

Sunil & Mike,

Thank you for the responses. Right now that is the way I have it set up (Edit Permission on each module on the page). However, it is not the same...mainly because the user cannot Add or Delete modules from the page, which is the main feature of page editing that I was looking for. I would like it if the user had the ability to Add/Edit/Delete modules on a page, but not be able to create new pages. I guess that's not possible...

I don't know about other people, but I think giving someone the right to edit a page, should not also give them the right to create new pages under it...that should be a seperate permission. But that's just my $.02...

Using the Professional and Enterprise editions of DNN this is possible, but not in the Community edition.
