I was running DNN 6.2 and custom Asp.net MVC application (configured as application) under DNN 6.2 application on IIS 7.  It was working fine until we upgraded to DNN7.0.  Then I started getting this error on my custom mvc app.

Section or group name 'system.web.webPages.razor' is already defined.  Updates to this may only occur at the configuration level where it is defined.

Then I realized DNN7 is using razor engine where it has the same <sectionGroup name="system.web.webPages.razor" ....> configuration defined in web.config.  DNN7 is now causing a conflict to my custom mvc app due to the configSections/SectionGroup inheritance from the parent.

My question is how to resolve this issue ? any help is appreciated.

It has been a while since I've worked with that problem, but via one of my old blog posts I found this link

Hopefully that will help
