Mike...
I have confirmed these settings are correct in my web.config but I still have no auto-login.  The issues are exactly the same.  On the web server, I am unable to login to the site at all...just loops through the Windows 2 line username/password challenge and no matter what you enter, it just keeps looping.

As I mentioned before, I have another customer site that is working fine but as I look it is DNN 6.1.5 with the 5.03 AD module.  At this point, I don't believe there are IIS or web.config setting issues as all of those have been checked and rechecked.  It may be possible that there is some interaction with another 3rd party module (we have Document Exchange (DMX) installed on this site...but that is all) but given the number of posts out here that are having similar issues....it seems unlikely.

I appreciate your help but in this installation it appears basically unusable...

Hi Roy, Mike,

I follow this thread because we have exactly the same issue here and tried everything but no autologin.(manual login with domainname\username + password works)

Our DNN instance (6.2.6) does not have any other 3rd party modules in it. The firewall on the Windows2008R2 IIS server is off (for now). We are now looking for other AD authorisation modules because the autologin is a must for our customer but we rather stay with the DNN version of course. :-)

If you guys need any additional information please let me know.

Regards,

Marcel Meulink

I just set up a new 6.2.6 install on a different server (2008R2/IIS7) in a different domain and installed AD 5.05. Following all instructions presented, I was successful in getting the system to connect to the AD and confirmed accounts are created and the Windows Login button works fine...exactly the same as the other site.

I have confirmed the following:

1> under no circumstances from any workstation does AutoLogin work. Fiddler confirms that the call to WindowsSignin.aspx never occurs.

2> The first time you log in with Windows credentials and then close/reopen the browser (not logging out) it keeps you logged in. Once you actually log out however, you must login each time you visit the site...there is no remember checkbox on the windows signin screen.

3> On the server itself, opening the site produces a windows challenge box (username/password) which NEVER allows you to login. There is no way around the windows challenge box so the site is inaccessible from the server console.

This is a completely new install with no 3rd party modules following all directions for the AD module....and it does not work. I am not sure if there are issues with 6.2.6 or what as I have a working 6.1.5 with 5.03 AD module that works as it should.

If there is something that I have missed here...PLEASE tell me the super secret code! I have now successfully duplicated and documented the same results on 3 separate AD domains using the same versions of the software. So this is not related to my particular environment and should be easily duplicated.

Roy, I will try to setup a test server this weekend to see if I can duplicate it on a fresh install but I can't guarantee anything as it's a fairly busy weekend ahead.

 Understand about the weekend duty!
I will wait until you have a chance to see if you can duplicate the issues.  Thanks for all your hard work!
