After recently switching my site over from localhost to alias domain name in Host/Site Aliases , i notice some of my images were broken/not showing up on the page . In edit mode (version 7 ) using the HTML editor, i adjust the img src reference to /portal/0/myimage.jpg, but after saving the changes, the editor automatically ignores it and throws in http://localhost:99/portal/0... as the address- how can I disallow the editor to not automatically throw this in, as it is my old path and is the wrong absolute reference.

You'll want to do a couple of things.

1) Go to your Admin/Site Settings (as a superuser) and make sure you define the "default" portal alias as the new domain name, instead of localhost.
2) You can go to the host/html configuration manager page and in the settings you can tell it to use relative or absolute URLs.
3) For any urls that are hard coded you can use a tool like Engage: F3 ( free) from www.engagesoftware.com that will do search/replace across HTML modules.
