I've begun creating a module and have it working well.  It compiles and displays as expected with no errors.  I finally decided to style my control and made some modifications in module.css, saved it and rebuilt the module.  It looked the same.  After viewing source and clicking to view the source for Module.css I received this:

Could not load file or assembly 'DotNetNuke.HttpModules' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'DotNetNuke.HttpModules' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

This only seem to happen when trying to directly access a file from my module - again the code works fine!

What I've tried:

I've tried resetting file permissions and giving full read/write/exec access to Everyone.  I've also tried re-registering IIS with aspnet_regiis.exe -i for all installed versions.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Allow the Network Security property of the website folder to full control.

It may help you.

Hi,

I've upgraded my local instance from v6.1.5 to v7.0.3 and have the exact behavior as yours. Did you ever resolve this issue? Images, CSS and JS files in one of my Desktop modules don't load any more. Really appreciate if you can reply.

Thanks.

Did either of you solve this? I'm getting the exact same behavior.

As far as I can recall, I faced this issue after my custom module's path was changed and it didn't reflect the module definition.
