After upgrading from DNN 6.2.3 to 7.0.3, I cannot login with any userid and cannot register new users.  I have a test DNN site on the same hosting provider that upgraded just fine, but this site failed.  The EventLog table in sql server shows this particular error, but I don't know what it really means.  Can someone please help?  It looks to me like maybe one of the stored procedures in the database did not get updated correctly - which might cause the membership provider to call it with the wrong number of parameters, but I am just guessing at this point.  Here is the texst of the error message in that eventlog record:

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Parameter count does not match Parameter Value count. ---> System.ArgumentException: Parameter count does not match Parameter Value count. at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.AssignParameterValues(SqlParameter[] commandParameters, Object[] parameterValues) at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteNonQuery(String connectionString, String spName, Object[] parameterValues) at DotNetNuke.Security.Membership.Data.SqlDataProvider.UpdateUser(Int32 userId, Int32 portalID, String firstName, String lastName, String email, String displayName, Boolean updatePassword, Boolean isApproved, Boolean refreshRoles, String lastIpAddress, Boolean isDeleted, Int32 lastModifiedByUserID) at DotNetNuke.Security.Membership.AspNetMembershipProvider.UpdateUser(UserInfo user) at DotNetNuke.Entities.Users.UserController.UpdateUser(Int32 portalId, UserInfo user, Boolean loggedAction) at DotNetNuke.Entities.Users.UserController.UserLogin(Int32 portalId, UserInfo user, String portalName, String ip, Boolean createPersistentCookie) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Authentication.Login.ValidateUser(UserInfo objUser, Boolean ignoreExpiring) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Authentication.Login.UserAuthenticated(Object sender, UserAuthenticatedEventArgs e) at DotNetNuke.Services.Authentication.AuthenticationLoginBase.OnUserAuthenticated(UserAuthenticatedEventArgs ea) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Authentication.Login.OnLoginClick(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.LinkButton.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.LinkButton.RaisePostBackEvent(String eventArgument) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.LinkButton.System.Web.UI.IPostBackEventHandler.RaisePostBackEvent(String eventArgument) at System.Web.UI.Page.RaisePostBackEvent(IPostBackEventHandler sourceControl, String eventArgument) at System.Web.UI.Page.RaisePostBackEvent(NameValueCollection postData) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I have finally found a resolution to the issue reported.  By using a file compare tool on the files in the BIN folder of a site that upgraded okay and the site where the problem happened I was able to identify 13 dll files that somehow escaped the upgrade process.  These are the 13 files that were affected on my site:

  • DotNetNuke.Authentication.Facebook.dll
  • DotNetNuke.Authentication.Google.dll
  • DotNetNuke.Authentication.LiveConnect.dll
  • DotNetNuke.Authentication.Twitter.dll
  • DotNetNuke.DNNTreeNavigationProvider.dll
  • DotNetNuke.HttpModules.pdb
  • DotNetNuke.HttpModules.xml
  • DotNetNuke.Membership.DataProvider.dll
  • DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.ScheduleControl.dll
  • DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.dll
  • DotNetNuke.Modules.Gallery.dll
  • DotNetNuke.Modules.Reports.dll
  • DotNetNuke.Provider.AspNetProvider.dll
  • DotNetNuke.Provider.CorePermissionProvider.dll
  • DotNetNuke.Provider.DBLoggingProvider.dll
  • DotNetNuke.Provider.DNNProvider.dll
  • DotNetNuke.SitemapProviders.CoreSitemapProvider.dll
  • DotNetNuke.SolpartMenuNavigationProvider.dl

Once I copied the "good" files over from my good site to the broken site, I was able to login using both superuser account and normal user.  Hope this helps some of the others that have been seeing this problem.
