IE 10

I developed a site about 2 years ago using DotNetNuke and Web Matrix. It has been working great. I have not performed any upgrades to DotNetNuke. I have two users who have upgraded to IE 10 and they are no longer able to use the login screen. Is there a requirement to upgrade to get IE 10 support. I am running 6.01.01.

please read http://rosshawkins.net/archive/2012/1... and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libra...(v=vs.85).aspx.

You may force IE10 to render in IE9 mode, see http://weblogs.asp.net/joelvarty/arch...

Thanks for the response. I tried copying ie.browser into my web site into the app_browsers directory and saw no change. I am using winhost as my web service and it does not have a tab for http headers so I can't use that fix. Does anyone know if the login feature in dotnetnuke is fixed in a newer release so this doesn't happen? Has anyone been successful copying the ie.browser file into their app? I may be doing something wrong. I am not a web expert by any means that is why I loved dotnetnuke.

I'm using DNN 7.0 and experiencing what I think may be a related issue. When viewing the site through Internet Explorer 10, the DNN navigation shows three strange characters instead of the ">" for dropdown menus. To be clear, I have no problems with any other browsers including IE 9 and the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox.

The three characters don't render when I try to copy and paste them here, but I can describe them thusly:

-an "a" with a ^ on top

-a Euro symbol

-a degree symbol (e.g. the 'o" that appears to the before F or C when describing a temperature)

I read the linked articles above but, unless I missed something, they only seemed to address the problem on the client side. Can anyone please explain how to address on the DNN/Server side?

If this is the wrong place, I apologize and will post a separate thread. Thanks in advance for any help.

Is this a custom skin or the default skin?

If custom; you may want to try your site layout in the HTML 5 doctype:

Source: http://www.falconwebtech.com/post/200...

So, from there my quandry was how to set the DOCTYPE in a DNN Portal. Well, In 4.4 and above, you are able to define the xhtml mode as a part of the skin by adding an xml file that that is named [SKINNAME].doctype.xml. Within this xml file you should declare one node SkinDocType. Then, within a CDATA tag, you add the doctype declaration to be used for this skin. For example, if your page uses Portal.ascx as the skin, you would create Portal.doctype.xml in the same directory. Be careful though, changing the DOCTYPE might have nasty side effects on some skins. The xml file should have the following content:
<SkinDocType><![CDATA[<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE html>]]></SkinDocType>
