Hi there.

I have recently become the lucky soul to inherit a DNN5 system. This is also my first exposure to any DNN system, so im pretty useless at the moment.

The site currently makes use of a JDMENU. How do I create a megamenu dropdown on mouse over for a particular menu option? I have created the dropdown as an ascx user control, but now i have no idea what to do with it.

Can anyone please point my in the direction of some documentation or tutorials, there doesn't seem to be much for Jdmenu.

Thank you

Never heard of it. Is there an obvious reason why you cannot convert to DDRMENU? It's far better known in the DNN world.

DNN has its own native menu engine that does not need usercontrols for megamenu type options.

I would strongly suggest that you migrate your menu system over to the dnn core menu - from there you can setup megamenus and all sorts of other fun stuff with just a few links of javascript and some css.

Here is the latest version for dnn5x sites:

Here is the latest documentation:

Here are a list of some of the more common templates.

JDMenu is one of the 3rd party ideas that never really seemed to make a lot of inroads - especially when you get so many options now in the core menu system.

There are reasons for not converting. There is a lot of custom code in the system, and not a while lot of it conforms to any specific standard, some of it is in dnn modules, some of it is not. Im a complete noob to DNN, and don't want to break anything that I am not able to fix. This is an old version of DNN (5.0). Upgrading to DNN 7.0 is also not an option right now (assessments need to be done... and approvals are needed...red tape #%^&*$$).

I have managed to successfully implement DDRMenu in place of the JDMENU. and all is working and looking exactly like it was. Thank you all for your advice, as well as Quintin from DNN. I am using the xslt MegaDNN2 template that I downloaded from codeplex.

Do I simply put the file name of the asp.net control or the referenced object name (id) into the template node of the xml file? then match "products" in the xslt. My menu is not based on dnn pages, I am using various product categories at different depths extracted from the product DB with images and hover classes. a design already approved  (and set in stone for now)

It's not at all clear to me what you are doing, nor what you want to achieve.

The DNN standard approach *is* for a menu to be based on DNN pages stored in the database.  DNN is sufficiently flexible that you can probably do anything you want, but this rings a few alarm bells for me.
