This is my first DNN post and so I aopologize in advance if I have not followed protocol or searched exhaustively prior to asking.  I have hunted around the forums looking for this mod and I am sure someone has done this before.  Anyway, thanks in advance for any pointers provided.

My company has just selected DNN for an intranet knowledge base application.  We will build pages for all the artifacts, documents, project plans etc...for software development projects.  In addition to these documents and reports, there is always a lot of email bouncing around the teams concerning these projects.  I would like to find a way to copy all of this email traffic into the project page automatically.

In the Wiki world I found an add on module that allowed the creation of an email addy for a specific page within the Wiki site.  I could therefore send a project update via Outlook/Exchange to all the team members and could simply copy an email address within the Wiki site, ie... cc: ABCProjectPageEmailCommsPage@MyCompanyWikiIntranet PAge.com

Has anyone yet built such an "Email into a DNN page" mod?  If not, we can write it.  Does anyone have ideas on how best to do so?

Thanks in advance,

PJ

It has occured to me that I could just set up a new addy within Exchange for the project and then open a webmail window into that accoutn within DNN.  Has anyone done this?  Any other ideas?

Thanks,

PJ

OK.  I know it is bad form to keep replying to my own thread.

However, I am really hoping to get some input on this question before we try to write this add on ourselves.

Have I violated some unwritten rules of protocol?  Is this question too challenging or unclear?  All I am looking for is a way to store emails within our new DNN intranet.  I would like to avoid manually uploading them as documents and am certain that someone has pondered this very question.

If I am being lame in some way, say so.  Just reply please....

Active Forums and the Active Forums Mail Connector will probably do what you are looking to accomplish.  We have a client that has a very similar setup for projects.  Every project has it's own page.  The page will have a task list module and an Active Forums instance.  Then they setup email addresses for the project.  Active Forums will then import the messages from the mail boxes into the forums.  If you don't want it to look like a forum you can customize the templates and create your own layout.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Will.  I am checking out your site right now.  We had not budgeted any money for this project, but your stuff looks very reasonable.  I will dig around some more and probably be in touch.
