I'm starting with the development of modules in DotNetNuke 7 and want to develop a simple module, a module that reads an external XML and display it on a page.

My question is: For a module that does not need access to the database (as I want to develop), is it necessary to create a table in the database for the module? (steps 6, 7 and 8 in http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/Module-Development.aspx).

Thanks for the help,
Best regards.

No, that's not necessary . . . You can store any module settings in the core ModuleSettings and/or TabModuleSettings table as appropriate.

No. In fact, you probably shouldn't avoid it so that you don't use up extra database space for nothing.

Hi Marcos,
Yes, you can develop module without using database.
You can store the module settings in module level variables.
Content of the module can be obtained directly from XML file.
Generally, this is the case when we use third party web services to build custom modules.
