Hello, I have a problem regarding the User Account section of the admin panel. The issue is specifically about the creation of a new user, where the username already of the new created user has been used before.

  1. I added  a new user with the username "manager".
  2. Afterwards I removed the account with username "manager".
  3. Now I would like to add a new user with the same username ("manager"), since I did not want to remove the account in the first place. But somehow, the system does now allow to create a new user with a usermane that existed before, even though I did remove the account already.

The systems returns the following message "A User Already Exists For the Username Specified. Please Register Again Using A Different Username".

I already tried to find the account with username "manager" in the database, but I was unable to find it.

How can I solve this issue, so I can add the new user which previously existed?

 Thanks in advance,

Daniel

Do you have multiple portals? Perhaps the account exists in another portal?

DNN by default does a SOFT delete, which doesn't actually remove a user from the database, you can hard delete them in the later versions of DNN

Hi Chris, thanks for your reply.

Fortunately I solved the issue already. The solution that helped me was:

  1. Table aspnet_users
  2. Search in “UserName” the row with deleted username.
  3. Copy cell “UserId” of the row with the deleted username.
  4. Tabel aspnet_membership
  5. Search the row where “UserId” is the copied cell of 3.
  6. Delete this row.
  7. Tabel aspnet_users
  8. Delete the row found in 2.
  9. Tabel users
  10. Search in “Username” the row with deleted username.
  11. Delete this row.
