On our dotnetnuke install we have a site with a specific skin and container for that site, and users that have edit permissions to different areas of the site. There are some additional skins at the host level. We want to limit our users to only using the skins and containers provided for that site. I can't find how to do this.

I should add that I've seen plenty of questions on limiting a skin to a single portal within dotnetnuke. I get how to do that. It's not what I'm after here. My problem is that host-level skins also show up for the site in question, and I want to prevent this for the users who have edit rights within this site.

AFAIK there's no real option to prevent someone who can pick a skin to select a host skin.

Bummer. Maybe I can inject some javascript into the pages to look for that html select control and remove those entries. Not a great solution, but probably adequate in this case if nothing else will work.

Yes, for historic reasons skins are not the same as regular extensions like modules.
It would be nice if this could be changed in the future, so you can set access per skin.

I agree for now js is the only solution.
