Hello,

I need to change the "from" e-mail addres for the e-mail that is sent automatically when a new user register on the site.  How can I do this?

Chnage your e mail Setting on the site Setting.  also it could be that you have to Change the email address on the Host Settings!

Please notice that sending email with other E-Mail address as you have in the host Settings Needs enabled relaying on the E-Mail Server. If Ple4sk is installed this is not supported.
