Here is what I'm wanting/needing to do:

I have my companies DNN website hosted on GoDaddy right now. We have an older hosting plan that does not allow us to upgrade to the latest DNN version. The only way for me to get the latest DNN version is to change servers. I've bought a new hosting plan via GoDaddy and now I need to move my existing website to the new server.

How can I move my user database and website over to the new server? If It's absolutely necessary for me to re-build the DNN site, I can get by with that. However, I have hundreds of registered users on our site. I simply cannot lose the user database. From what I understand, I can't simply backup the database, create a new dnn website, and then restore the database to the new website. If I did that, wouldn't the database look for the machinecode (I believe that's what it's called) for the old installation?

Also, one other minor issue I'm dealing with is my domain name. Our domain name is set to our current hosting plan. I cannot finish setting up our new hosting plan because the domain name is already in use. I have been trying to figure out a way where I wont have any down time when moving over to the new website. Just out of curiosity, how do other people deal with this issue? Does everyone usually take down their old site before setting up the new one? From what I understand, I can't just assign a new domain name to our new hosting plan, setup DNN, then take our domain name off of the old hosting plan and assign it to the new one.
