Ok guys - i need y'all to throw me a bone here... I can't figure out what I need to put in this box...

I'm on the profile proerties editor screen - and i see where I can edit the country and region boxes and DEFAULT them to specific entries.  99.999% of my users will be from South Carolina, and as such I'd like to default the country to USA and the state to South Carolina.

I've tried putting "United States" "USA" "US" - I even tried random numbers (in case it was an indexed property?) to see if I could at least get it to change to SOMETHING other than AFGANISTAN!!!  No joy.

Any ideas?  Thanks guys!

Until DNN 4.0 the user's country was retrieved form his IP address - I haven't checked the code, if this still is working.

which, based on what I read, never worked for most folks...

I'd like to formally request that the core team allow a default country code setting to override the "by ip" country code method...

I agree. another problem I am having is that my users are selecting United States in the country box, and then the region is getting set to ALABAMA by default. and since the region is above the Country control my users are all leaving the region set to Alabama by mistake. I know by there zip code that they are all in Florida.

Please help.

thanks

yeah - i just created an issue re this on support.dotnetnuke.com - lets see what happens.  It doesn't appear to be specific to JUST the cc/region - i can't get a default to hold on ANY profile property.

Defaults entered in User Properties are ignored on registration
