I've spent half a day trying to get this installed. We have a Pro website, and I need to do some module development for it. The installation I got working a week ago blew up today, with the same menu.ascx error everyone else is getting.

Wiped it totally clean, reinstalled, created a clean database called dnndev.me - didn't work. The log talked about AddTab being null, so returning a 0. Wiped it out again, reinstalled, same result.

Gave up, thought maybe the Web Platform Installer might force the issue. Nope - I get a huge "Downloaded file failed signature verification"; doesn't matter what version, either DNN community edition release date fails.

I just want to run this application. How can it be this hard just to get it installed? Is there any way you can force an instance up with predefined data?

Hi,

Which version of dnn are you using ? Are you checking the system requirement before installing new site ?

Thanks,

Hi
This may be because of new version of dnn and which is not yet officially published. Can you bypass the security warning?

If not, you'll either have to wait for new release or can also contact marketing.

Thanks,

You can also skip using the platform installer. While I like the tool, I tend to do my DNN installs manually.

- Create your database ahead of time, note the credentials for the user for that database.
- Download the "install" DNN zip file
- Create a folder and unzip the contents to it
- Set up a new website in IIS and point towards the new folder above
- Launch the site and walk through the install wizard

Thanks - did you see what I wrote? I had done all that. Resorting to the Platform Installer was my last resort, not my first.
