I believe this is a known issue - twitter retired their API v1.0 recently, we are resolving this issue with the 7.1.0 release.

This problem still exists in the latest DNN version (7.2.1). I have researched this error some time ago, based on the source-version of DNN Platform, and determined that this error is caused by the fact that Twitter doesn't return an emailaddress (which is by design). DNN however still tries to send the registration email to the user, causing the error displayed (empty mailaddresses aren't checked before doing so).

Additionally, in 7.2.1 DNN also doesn't construct a correct, unique, username when a user logs in using Twitter. The username is apparently based on "Twitter-" and then the user's emailaddress. Since the mailaddress isn't available, I was assigned the username "Twitter-" on my testing environment.

This behaviour is working fine for the Facebook-provider (where username becomes "Facebook-" plus the emailaddress).
