I have looked thru every posting I can find and I have tried most solutions but to no avail.
I am trying to install Community Edition 07.00.06 on a Windows 7 64 bit pc with a local 2008 R2 database.

I get the circle of doom (blue whirley) and the message No valid default database connection detected. But I can see that a valid connection was made to the database in the activity monitor and these two statements are executed:

"CREATE TABLE [dbo].[faketable]([fakeColumn] [int] NULL);select * from faketable;drop table faketable;"
and
;Exec dbo.GetDatabaseVersion

I have switched the app pool account, tried switching between classic and integrated. Nothing has worked so far.

Has anyone found a working solution?

You don't say if those statements actually worked.

Does your security in the database allow the AppPool account to manage the DB? I'm lazy so I generally allow it DbOwner.

Best wishes,
