I have tried a few dozen things to upgrade an existing dnn instance from 4.8 to 7.6 . Every attempts ends with inability to get to the site settings page with the following error.

Error: Site Settings is currently unavailable.DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Portals.SiteSettings.get_SelectedCultureCode() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Portals.SiteSettings.OnLoad(EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I cannot imagine that this instance is the only 4.8 to 7.6 (using suggested upgrade path) that will produce this error.

Hi Steve,

check in the table dbo.Portals if DefaultLanguage is set for your Portal.
If not, set it to your default language (ex : fr-FR or en-US or ... etc)

Confirmed: All portals have "en-US" as defaultLanguage in portals table.

Did you well clear local browser cache and cookies after you upgrade your website ?
