I can log in using  http://www.flaxbasket.co.nz/dnn/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=fdefault.aspx

By the way, I have to install DNN in a subfolder which is a virtual directory. This is because of the painful fact that my hosting provider is using plesk and I can't set permissions on httpdocs. Not sure if this would make a difference or break things.

Cheers

Peter

Hi Peter,

on Plesk 10 and higher you can create a subfolder in the httpdocs Folder e.g. DNN and then you can map this Folder as the physical Folder path to your Domain Settings.  It is then possible to set all the needed permissions in Plesk to run your DNN instance successfull.  So no virtual Folder is needed!

Upgrading an older DNN instance have to done in several steps.  You found the recommanded Upgrade paths on http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/Page/....  Please be Aware that you have to check if your Skin and 3rd Party modules are compatible with the newer Version of DNN.  I suggest uninstall not needed modules before upgrade.

Also check prerequests for the newer DNN Versions!  http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/Page/... and http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/Page/...

Hope this helps you.

This is still haunting me.

I now did the following:

I set up a complete new DNN 4.9 site. It runs on Win7/ IIS 7.5. All just standard setup. App Pool runs under .Net 2.0.50727 Integrated.

I logged in and everything works.

I update to 5.2.3 and guess what, same issues. Most linkbuttons don't work. Login and Register don't work. Simple http links do work.

So this proves it is not specific to my web site I want to upgrade. Not specific to any skin or module. The same problem exists with a 4.9 default DNN site upgraded to 5.2.3.

I found this in the DNN EventLog:

Any ideas?

Upgrade Media Module to Version running with DNN 5.2.3 or uninstall this Extenssion if it not in use!  Do this before you start the upgrade!

Before Upgrade to DNN 5.2.3 upgrade to 4.9.5 see the sugeested Upgrade paths.

Mattias makes an interesting point. If this is a brand new default install where does that Modules.Media.MediaController type come from?

It could be part of a default install. I cannot be certain it's not a standard part of DNN. I don't have a library for it in my bin folder, but it could be wrapped up with other stuff.

Best wishes,
