I am trying to get DNN installed for the first time.  I created a web site in IIS and got past the initial database install step but am now getting stuck at a spot where I see a message "15% ERROR: The given path's format is not supported."  There are no logs available and I don't know what I am looking for to get over this part.  If anyone out there has any info, it is appreciated.

I couldn't get the image upload to function here so I put a screenshot up on my server.  You can see the error here:  http://www.abc-clio.com/images/temp/d...

Thanks

Looks as an issue with your permissions or configuration for the Database Connection.  We Need more Information of your configuration and Setting, Database, SQL-Server, IIS, and Settings on the DNN!  Before you run the install.

Sorry, I realized right after I hit submit that I should add a lot of environment details but couldn't find a way to edit until it passed a moderator.  I am installing on a local development machine that runs Windows 7 Professional.  I have a lot of things installed on my development machine including MS SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio, and IIS.  I have several websites set up and running in my local IIS but not one using DNN.  I am using the executable download from DNN.

I think my error is the result of a database problem with SQLExpress.  SQLExpress, for some unknown reason, does not appear to be very reliable on my development machine.  It was previously installed, but this is the first thing I have used SQLExpress for.  I can connect to SQLExpress using the Management Console but when I access things like user properties I am prompted with an error saying "A connection was successfully established with the server but then an error occurred during the login proces...error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe".  I have restarted the service several times.  I am not sure why I would be seeing this message.  I would rather have DNN install to a non-express database but when I run the installer, it appears to automatically select SQLExpress and asks for the sa password.

I am obviously very new to DNN and I would like to understand the default install isn't working and be able to use the non-SQLExpress database.

If you use the file based database you mast have installed and configured an SQL Server 2008 R2 or higher (could be the express Edition), you have to add the application pool user to the database users as dbOwner with Schema dbo and map the user to the database. Also you can only have one Connection to the file based database. So you have to Close Management Studio and Visual Studio or other Connections before you can run the install.

If you use a installed MS SQL Server 2008R2 or higher instance (Express or higher) you must configure the TCP/IP protocol for Server and Client1 You have to create a SQL Server User and the database, map the user to the database with the Schema dbo as dbOwner. Then you can start to install DNN and set up a SQL Server Connection on the install wizard, or for manuelly run modified both Connection strings on the web.config file.

Please check the wiki http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/Page/... or the Video library for instructions.  Of course if it does not help I will see how I can help you to solve your install issue.

I have a lot of things installed on my development workstation and I am not sure what exactly ended up being the culprit.  I did end up installing a new copy of MS SQLExpress 2008 and started with a new copy of the community edition.  I followed all of the basic steps and got things installed and running pretty easy.  There were a few configuration options that needed to change to make everything work like it should but no show stoppers.

Thanks for taking a look at my problem.
