Hi,

while trying to upgrade my DNN instance (6.2.6) to the stable DNN 7.1 version, an error occurred:

10% ERROR occured - Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.   at DotNetNuke.Services.Upgrade.Upgrade.AddProfessionalPreviewPage(Int32 parentId, String tabPath, String moduleFriendlyName, String tabName, String tabDescription, String smallIcon, String largeIcon)

   at DotNetNuke.Services.Upgrade.Upgrade.UpgradeToVersion710()

   at DotNetNuke.Services.Upgrade.Upgrade.UpgradeApplication(String providerPath, Version version, Boolean writeFeedback)

After the error occurs, the upgrade process seems to stop. it's been running for 25 minutes now and the progress bar has not moved beyond the 10% yet.

When I access the upgrade wizard in a second browser, I can access the page and I can restart the upgrade process (I did not actually do this). The upgrade page says current version 7.1.

I will now revert back to 6.2.6, because it seems to me that from here there isn't much I can do.

Does anyone have an idea of why this error occurs, and how I can make sure it doesn't occur again when I retry the upgrade to 7.1?

Thanks in advance,

Hanneke

Could it be you tried to upgrade a professional Version with the Community upgrade package?  Are you sure you inherit successfull the physical Folder permissions to all subfolders and subfiles?

Please Notice:

After a failed upgrade you have restore the Database and files and have to start from scratch with the upgrade.  All upgrades after a failed upgrade without restoring the instance want to be failed again!

There's a support ticket at support.dotnetnuke.com, because I get the error also maybe you can add your information to that ticket.
