If I go to:  mysite.com/BrowseProjects,  I get the 404 Error Page.

However, if I go to:   mysite.com/BrowseProjects.xxx, I get a generic 404 error from the server.

Why is this and, more importantly, how do I fix it?

what version is this in -7.1.0? If so it might be worth reading Bruce's blog http://www.dnnsoftware.com/community-blog/cid/154518/Page-not-found-404-Error-Handling-in-DNN and the wiki http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/Page/DNN-404-Handling to get a idea of how the 404 handler works in 7.1.0. As to the issue, if .xxx is not an extension mapped to the asp.net handler then it will pass through to IIS which handles the 404 issue (i.e. we can only determine 404's if a request makes it to DNN)
