Hi All,

I am trying to install the DNN431 starter kit into VS2005 but when I try to open the default.aspx page I get an error

ERROR CREATING CONTROL, unable to cast object of type ' system.web.ui.design.htmlintrinsiccontroldesigner' to type 'system.web.ui.design.controldesigner'

Any clues to what this error is...is there a good walk thru anywhere for installing this kit?

I found this Shaun Walker blog to be spot-on (VWD though...)

Does anybody have a solution to this problem?  I did a standard installation on Windows XP Pro, IIS and SQL Server (Developer).   Nothing unusual, just followed the installation guide, used the defaults and everything appeared to install fine.  When I open the project and bring up default.aspx in design mode the error above pops up and the form is not displayed.

I imagine this has to be a common problem as I simply followed the installation directions -- nothing unusual at all.

Hi,

I'm having the exact same problem as described here.  When I try to look at the default.aspx page I get the same ERROR CREATING CONTROL error.  I'm using VS2005 and the DNN431 Starter Kit.

Did anyone ever find a solution to this?  Chemystery, you seemed to say that the walk-through by Shaun Walker helped, but what about the walk-through led to the solution of this problem?  Any help is greatly appreciated...

Thanks,

- Alex
