There is a regular expression in the email address validation setting in site settings and we are using the standard DNN login module. And new registrations are able to be made with obviously bad email addresses. Does the validation have to be turned on somehow? Please tell me how to be sure we get only well-formed email addresses. Thanks a lot.

there are a couple of sites for checking regex validation you may use to check, whether the regex entered does capture your malformed email addresses.
Which DNN version are you using?

We are using DNN 7.0.2. The standard RegEx was already in there and it was not working that I could tell, I have also tried a better RegEx. but they seem to be ignored. I can type something as simple as "test" in that field and it accepts and stores it.

some of the changes in DNN 6.2 have been fixed meanwhile, I would suggest upgrading to 7.1.2
