I upgraded several DNN instances to the latest version DNN 712 and noticed that the search engine/interface changed.
The new skinobject is a great imporvement for DNN and we are really happy with the new search.

Unfortunaltely I also noticed there's no search input module anymore.
In a lot of our website we made a search page with the seachinput module in stead off using a skinobject.
After the upgrade to DNN712 thes pages are empty now.

We can rebuild this functionality to a skinobject but I assume there's  replacement for the searchinput module?

The search results module will show a search input at the top of the page for this version of DNN.

I still see a need for a module version of input skin object. please log this issue in the public tracker (http://support.dnnsoftware.com)

I agree with Sebastian!

On most of our websites we use the search module in stead of the search skinobject.
When we perform an upgrade we are forced to migrate the seach module to a search skinobject. So we have to change all skins for this website.

We have some DNN instances with more than 50 websites. When we upgrade this instance we are forced to change about 100 to 200 skins....

I will at this to the DNN tracker
