I'd like to have a notification of a profile change to an other piece of code so I can call a remote web service to tell the remote system about this profile change.

For example when a user changes his e-mail address or twitter account (a custom profile property) in our DNN, the company personell administration gets updated as well.

What would be the apporach for this?

Are there facilities for this in DNN?

I can think of setting a trigger in the dnn database calling an sql agent job, calling the web service. but this feels kinda hackisch.

Or should I create a whole new profile provider? Or extend the existing one?

Or ....?

Out of the box there isn't really a solution for notification at this level. Although hackish, I've used the trigger way of doing things quite successfully over the years. Its a lot less work then re-writing the profile provider, which would be a "more clean" way of doing it, just a lot more work.

I agree, trigger would be the best option not to interfere with core code.
