I'm running dotnetnuke 3.1.0 (sqldataprovider, with .net framework version 1.1.4322.2032), which is apparently the latest version.

This is a CLEAN install (no existing databases or pages when the install was done).

The site is apparently running fine except that I am unable to install any new modules.

I am trying to install some additional modules (my first try was forumblog_03.10.01, which is the latest on the website) but nothing seems to happen; I get no errors or messages of any kinds (on the screen or in the dnn logs).

Here is what I am doing (the docs I have seen havent been helpful).   Hopefully it is just something really stupid that I missed.

1. login to site as HOST

2. go to Module Definitions in host area

3. select Upload New Module (and I see the Upload Custom Module page)

4. I browse to the module I want to install (ie ForumBlog_03.10.01)

5. I click on the Add hyperlink (and then see the custom module listed in the text area below the browse button)

6. I click on the Upload New File hyperlink and the system returns me to the Module Definitions page; the custom module is not shown in the list (or anywhere else, including the File Manager areas)

I have tried this numerous times (including trying DNNBB as a custom tool) with no success.  I even nuked my dotnetnuke installation and reinstalling (removed all inetpub files, deleted the sql database, and rebooted before doing the installation and setup again).

The computer has plenty of ram and hard disk space.

HELP!!!!  Any help appreciated.

This is some type of dnn problem and is not forums specific, from what you are saying.  I can only ask are you using the right file to install (source or install)?

I have tried both the forumsblog install and source ZIP files.  Yes, it does sound more DNN specific but why??

I have done a clean install twice already (no remnants of any dotnet file or database or vs cache) so its hard to believe that everyone else can install it but me; just dont understand what I am doing wrong.

Noticed that some installation instructions talk about a personal assembly ZIP within the main ZIP.  I also noticed that neither forumsblog ZIP file contained another ZIP.  Dont think that makes any diff but who knows.

Any ideas on where I can look for more errors??  The HOST area log entries dont show anything unusual and there is nothing in the Windows Event logs.

figured out the problem, FINALLY.

seems like I had some flaky memory chips that ended up causing some problems with certain IIS DLL files.  this ended up causing dotnetnuke upload feature to not work.

after reinstalling win2k and all my stuff (arggggg), tried installing the forumblog module and IT WORKED!!!

thanks for the help.  the forum looks very cool
