Anyone? Could really use help.

It seems like this is the only problem we have come across with DNN. Sadly its big enough to have stopped us doing any multi-user tests.

reset password should send out a password reset link (http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/Page/...).
you might need to check membership component in web.config and need to make sure you are able to send emails.
Last not least check Admin > Event Viewer for details being logged.

Users get a notification when you create a user or assign them to a role - when you're assigned someone to a role (admin->user accounts->edit user->click manage roles for user) you can see a checkbox for entitled "Send Notification?". Please note, I'd recommend you install 7.2.0 as it fixes a few issues around password resets (when password history is also enabled)
